re METHODS OF RECYCLING in CAERPHILLY COUNTY BOROUGH

I do not agree that the current method of recycling i.e. co-mingling in dedicated wheelie-bins, should be changed.

A lot less would be collected if people were expected to manage various boxes for different things as this would make things more difficult for them and a substantial number of residents wouldn't bother with the result that more rubbish would go to landfill or be incinerated.

Valuable recyclate such as metal and paper would be lost which means more pollution through processing raw materials and dearer goods.

Our council has spent a great deal of time & effort setting up the present system of co-mingling, including going door-to-door to explain matters to residents. A change would mean unnecessary expense, which would lead to further cuts in services elsewhere, in view of the dire financial situation of all councils, not just Caerphilly.

So are we going to close an additional leisure centre or library or two just to satisfy the demands of the commercial enterprises who make money out of recycling? I hope not.
